i am a veteran so i get 25% off my property tax and i am using the VA home loan so theres no PMI, no down payment, and i have a locked interest rate of 4.5% its a $128,000 home but i talked them down to $122,000. i receive $1,427/month tax free from the government for being 80% disabled from the iraq war. in total, i make $41,032 / year (work and VA money). i have $800 in debt/month total. so, could i afford this home?

A mortgage lender wants to see you do not spend more then 3 times your annual income So you just about make it The only stumbling block may be the property tax. You need to ask the tax assessor what the tax would be on the purchase price of 122k

Just ballparking since taxes vary by location, I would say you will pay $175 to $300 per month in property taxes and another $50 per month for insurance. Let's assume between mortgage, taxes and insurance you will pay $850 per month. Your net income looks to be about $3,000 per month total. With the house and your other debt you are looking at 55% of your net for payments. That is pretty close. It can certainly be done but you will have to be careful.
